Staff Appreciation 2017

There are approximately 65 staff members at Lilja who all work hard for our children. Staff Appreciation events are a great, easy way to show them our thanks and how much we appreciate what they do for us each day. This year we will be changing the format a little. In lieu of a breakfast, we are having a coffee & dessert bar in April, and we will still be hosting the annual luncheon during the official teacher appreciation week in May. The coffee & dessert bar will be held on Wednesday April 12th. This is a 1/2 day at Lilja and also a teacher/parent conference day.  We thought it would be fun to let the teachers/staff enjoy a little pick me up for their busy afternoon!
How you can help?
Donate food or your time for the coffee & dessert bar <here>. Please have any dessert donations at Lilja by 11:00am on Wednesday April 12th.
Donate money. Monetary donations can be sent into the office in an envelope marked "Staff Appreciation 2017”. Checks can be made out to "Lilja PTO". These donations will be used for both events (April & May). Last year we were able to give each of the staff members a $10 Dunkin Donuts gift card, in addition to each individual classroom receiving an Amazon gift card! We would greatly appreciate any donation and would love to have them as soon as possible for planning purposes.
Please feel free to reach out to Lisa McDonough ( or Linda Danahy ( with any questions.

Attention Parents!

Do you wish your children would listen more attentively, play cooperatively, and use more positive self-talk? If so, come to the PTO meeting on Wednesday, April 5th at 7:00pm. School counselors Laura Loftus and Elise Molloy will be discussing the Open Circle Program at Lilja.  The evening will focus on the skills that your children are learning at school and how you can successfully reinforce them at home. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to add some tools to your parent tool-box!

Yearbook Photos Needed

The Yearbook Committee needs photos for this year’s yearbook. We know many of you have been to various Lilja events/concerts/parties and in the classroom throughout the year. If you have pictures from these events and are willing to share, we would be most appreciative.
To make it easier, you can email the photos to If you could please send separate events in separate emails so that we know where to place them in the yearbook (e.g. Movie Night, Lilja Luau, KBU 100 Day, etc.) We strive to have as many children in the yearbook as possible. This can only be achieved through the help of our Lilja parents and their photography skills. Any pictures you could provide would help us immensely.

Fish Tank Volunteer Needed

For the past few years our fish tank has been cared for by a Lilja Alum parent who was willing to volunteer her time, as outside maintenance costs were rising. It is now time to pass the torch to another family. No experience is necessary, as our parent Alum is happy to train you! If you are interested in helping out, please contact Kristine Black <>.

Wally Vaughn Scholarships

The Lilja PTO is looking for 2-4 people to join the selection committee for the annual Wally Vaughn Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded each year to Lilja alumns graduating NHS. The time commitment is minimal. Anyone interested in learning more should contact Stacy Bradford at
