Fourth Grade Events
Lilja is having a 4th Grade Spelling Bee! On Friday March 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. fourth grade students will compete for the coveted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place spelling bee trophies!  Packets have been sent home to all 4th grade students with a cover letter and a word list to study.  Up to 30 students will be admitted into the competition with a waitlist being kept in the event that someone needs to drop out. Please email Renee Vekiarides at rvekiarides@321foundation.org, to register or if your child did not receive the word list.

We are looking for a parent from Lilja to offer their time to be one of the 3 judges.  We are requesting that they NOT be the parent of one of the spellers. The role of this judge will be to write down the word as the student spells it.  Then all 3 judges will confirm together whether it is correct or not.  If you are interested, please contact Renee Vekiarides (email address).
Finally, all Lilja families are invited to observe this event!  We are looking forward to a t-e-r-r-i-f-i-c evening!

Lilja Alumni Food Drive
Emily Arthur and Mary Dougherty, from Girl Scout troop 72293 here in Natick, are alumni of Lilja Elementary and are currently eighth graders at Wilson Middle School. They are in the midst of working on their Silver award project, the highest Girl Scout award that one can earn as a Cadette Girl Scout. Their project is to create recipes booklets of healthy, but tasty meals for those that use the food pantry, A Place to Turn, here in Natick. Many people here are fortunate enough to receive food from the pantry, but are unclear of ways to prepare it in the healthy and tasty ways that many enjoy. To make their project go further they are holding a food drive at Lilja to collect non perishable items. A small box will be placed outside each class room starting on Friday, January 27th until Thursday February 9th. Please see their flyer <here> and considering donating!

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at pto@liljapto.org or any member of the board directly.
