Learn About the Lilja Auction
What is the Lilja Auction?
The Lilja Auction is the Lilja PTA’s largest fundraiser that takes place every two years. The adult only event is a night out of fun and showcases a variety of donated items and experiences provided by businesses, families, classrooms, and others. The items are auctioned off through both a silent and live auction. There are also other fun activities throughout the evening.
What does the money raised go toward?
Last auction, the Lilja PTA raised $60,000 through the generosity of the attendees bidding on items in a wide range of price ranges. The money raised provides the PTA with it’s two-year operating budget that goes directly into supporting the students and families of Lilja Elementary. Some of things that the PTA has been able to support because of the funds raised during the auction are: new outdoor basketball court, scholarship fund, Lilja Learning Commons shelving, Maker Spaces, phys ed equipment, gardening shed, teacher classroom support, student field trips, special events, and more.
What about this year’s auction?
This year’s auction is on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Wellesley College Club. More information to come. In addition to the activities listed above, this year’s funds will go toward kicking off a capital campaign to upgrade the large playground at Lilja.
How can parents help?
There are lots of ways parents can get involved. For starters, parents are often critical in securing donations for the event. Parents can help the solicitation team by visiting or speaking with local businesses. Also, our parents have a variety of talents and have offered up services for auction (e.g. photography, lessons, etc.) or have supplied items for auction through personal connections. In addition, parents can help by volunteering to help the evening of the event.
How do I sign up to volunteer?
If you’d like to help solicit donations, visit: http://bit.ly/LiljaAuction2016 to see the various vendors. If you’re willing to contact a particular vendor, just add your name to the box next to the vendor and update the sheet as you hear. Once a donation is secured, or if you are donating an item, complete the form here: http://goo.gl/forms/34ANgGyiEt. Have an idea for a vendor or auction item? Go ahead and add it to the list. Questions about auction items can be addressed to Amy O'Neill at email@example.com. Looking for other ways to volunteer, contact Christine Kingdon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a Heart Campaign
Lilja will again be showing their community spirit by sponsoring a "Have a Heart" drive during the month of February, to benefit the Natick Service Council. The service council is initiating a new program called "Healthy Eating and Healthy Aging" to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. They are looking for the following non-perishable food items to stock their pantry: gluten-free pasta, whole wheat pasta, canned fruit in juice, whole grain cereals, gluten-free cereals, natural or low sodium peanut butter, canned low sodium peanut butter, canned low sodium tuna in water, low sugar juice, and low sodium soup. They are also always in need of toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and tissues. Please help our Lions learn about giving back to the community by donating a few of these items. Bags labeled "Have a Heart" will be left in front of each classroom to collect donations until Friday, February 26th. There will also be a donation box in the lobby.
Thanks in advance for your generosity! Please contact Michelle Ferretti with any questions at email@example.com.
